Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights! Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his hosts! Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars! Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens! Psalm 148: 1-4
Dear Families,
The arts have always held a place of honor at Concordia. This Christmas season, Latin teachers Rick Winterstein and Jessica Cofield are excited to announce the appearance of the illustrated Benedicite Omnia Opera, with over 30 original paintings by Concordia graduate Chelsea Greenwood. Benedicite Omnia Opera – which means “Praise the Lord, all you works of the Lord” – is a Latin hymn of praise in which all of Creation unites in glorious praise of its Maker. This new edition includes both the Latin text and an English translation to enhance every reader’s enjoyment of the hymn and artwork. Copies of the book are available for $20 each, with all proceeds going to support the Concordia classics department.
The book and a selection of the paintings are on display in the Concordia 300 building. Come and have a look! Select pieces of Chelsea’s artwork are featured below.
Consider buying a copy not just for yourself but as a gift to share your appreciation for the arts and classics at Concordia. For more information and to purchase the book, please contact Rick Winterstein at rick.winterstein@ccatacoma.org or 253-365-1978.
We have always encouraged our students to use their God-given gifts. I think this collaboration between Mr. Winterstein and alumna, Chelsea Greenwood, is a clear and awesome example of what happens in our community long after students have moved on.
In Christ,
Sherrie Gibelyou

Truong is a 15-year-old boy from Vietnam. He enjoys playing football and badminton in his spare time. He describes himself as a cheerful, friendly, and hardworking person. His parents describe him as friendly and sociable. His favorite colors are blue, green, and gray. He says that he can adapt easily to new environments and that he is ready to learn about new things and cultures. He loves food, both Vietnamese and foreign food. He dreams of becoming an engineer in the future. He is excited to come to the United States to study, as he believes that the education here is excellent!
Truong says, “I wish to stay with a host family that is helpful, easy-going, friendly, and kind. They can sympathize with my embarrassment when I first come to a new country.”
ABC Education Group offers a monthly stipend of $900/month.

Each year, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and First Baptist Church of Lakewood work together to provide holiday food baskets to families in our area.
We have designated our offerings during the months of November and December to support the Loaves and Fishes program. Because of the sponsors supporting the program this year, each basket costs about $25 to put together. So far, we have money for 25 baskets!
If you are able, please consider giving to this ministry through the chapel offerings we donate each week. We appreciate the servant hearts of all our students and families!
Thanks for your generous support of the Hygemas during this time of healing for Wayne.
