High School Updates 4-8-19

Announcements from the Office:

Services Hours are required for graduation. The deadline for turning in service hours for seniors is May 24. No exceptions. Please contact Mrs. Glasser if you have any questions.

If you’re looking for service hours, the VLT needs help at the Spring Carnival. Students can learn more and sign up here.

Attendance Reminder: A student is considered absent if he/she missed more than fifteen (15) minutes in any period (whether that 15 minutes is at the beginning, middle, or end of the period). On the ninth (9th) day of absence from any one class in a semester, there will be no academic credit given for the class. A grade of “F’ will be assigned. These policies are printed in our parent/student handbook.

America's Carbon Footprint and How to Mitigate the Effects

For her senior project, Maddy Hwang is attempting to live a week creating minimal to no waste and would like to provide some tips for you all so you can also participate. Her goal is to show that little individual changes can build up to make a big difference. Her waste-free week is April 8-12. Here are my tips for minimizing personal waste.

  • Keep your lights turned off and electronics unplugged as much as you can.

  • Always carry around a reusable water bottle.

  • Try to eat less meat and unpackaged foods.

  • Avoid one use plastic.

  • Walk/Bike/Carpool/Bus instead of driving personal vehicles.

  • Take cold showers and turn the water off while washing your body/hair.

  • Dispose of recycling and compost accordingly.
