Service Opportunity

King's Manor relational visit(s)

Who: CCA High School Students

What: Visit King's Manor to talk, play games, sing, etc. with residents.

When: Wednesday, Jan. 30, from 3:15 to 4:30pm (Possibility of setting up more visits, up to twice a month)

Where: King's Manor Senior Living Community; 8609 Portland Ave. E, Tacoma, WA 98445

Why: Bring and experience the joy of relating to residents - service hours available.

How: Mr. Neumiller will drive a van (or shuttle depending on number of students) leaving school at 3:00 p.m. and returning no later than 5:00 p.m.

Winter Lock-In

Stuco is hosting a lock-in from 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, to 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 19. Space is limited. Please pick up and return permission forms to Mrs. Glasser in the main office by January 16.

Tutoring

Kevin Kozakowski, a former Hawk and pre-med graduate from Gordon College, is available to tutor students in pre-algebra through pre-calculus, as well as environmental science, biology, anatomy, chemistry, and physics. He has experience working with a wide variety of learners and would love to assist our current students. National Geographic Geography Bee

Two finalists from grades 4-8 will compete from 1-2 p.m. in the CCA Gymnasium on January 16. Family is more than welcome to come watch.

We’re gearing up for LEST! Fifth through eighth graders, be on the lookout for more info from your teachers. You can find hotel and event info on the LEST website.

Here’s a crash course on LEST: It is held at Concordia University in Portland, Oregon, on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday in February before President’s Day.  Fifth through eighth-grade students from Lutheran schools in Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Montana, and Nevada are invited to participate in several areas of competition: basketball, music, art, spelling, chess, math, dance team, cheerleading, drama, knowledge bowl, robotics, logo, essay writing, swimming and lots of fun and fellowship. Let’s cheer on our Hawks as they represent CCA this year for the first time!

I want to thank our students and families for the generous donations to help make gift wishes come true for students at Ford Middle School. Your generosity is so appreciated by all of us at Concordia, and Ford Middle School is very thankful for our help. We were able to contribute 87 sketch pads and 83 colored pencil packs, along with many gloves, hats, and scarves for the children at Ford. Well done!

Dual Credit Deadline

Next Friday is the deadline for registration at Faith International for the winter semester. Remember, all Concordia high school students have the awesome opportunity to take up to two classes per quarter for only $135! Course offerings and application form are attached here.

Seniors + Parents:

Jostens will be back during lunch on Thursday, December 13, to pick up order forms for graduation items. The only things seniors are required to order are cap/gown and tassel. The cost of those items is approximately $40. These have to be ordered through Jostens and cannot be purchased through the school. It is imperative that students turn in their orders on Thursday.


CCA Basketball Ticket and Concession Sales

Basketball season is underway and we need your help! Parents and Hawk fans, please consider volunteering to help with ticket or concession sales for at least one game.
