Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. Hebrews 12: 1-3
Dear Parents,
And just like that, WE’RE BACK! Our first day began with a joyous chapel where we sang our praises to God for this brand new school year. I loved looking across our student body to see our students singing. I am always amazed at how much they change over the summer. Some come back taller and all look older! I loved seeing all the new faces in our student body, as well.
Our theme this year comes from Hebrews 12: 1-3. The scripture references life as a race of endurance. I think of this much like I do when I think of those physical changes that are so apparent when our students return to us from summer break. I don’t see the changes from day-to-day during the school year, but when we have an extended summer break, I am struck by just how much change has taken place.
Likewise, In the day-to-day of our lives, we may feel stressed and get caught up in the ups and downs of our earthly journey, but when we stop to reflect, we can see all of the times that God has carried us through tough times. When we think of what Jesus endured on the cross, our hardships are put into perspective. NOTHING is as difficult as the suffering he endured for us. If we take the time to think about our past difficulties, we find that with each new challenge endured, we become stronger in the process.
We will encourage our students to remember this as they move through their school year. Each new challenge makes us stronger and, with endurance, we will finish the year stronger and wiser than we were when we started!
Please know that my door is always open. I post my cell to make communications easier for you, and I take calls up to 9 p.m. and on the weekends. I am happy to speak with you whenever you have questions or concerns.
In Christ,

Adrian grew up in California and relocated to Tacoma in 2019. Shortly after moving, he became a certified personal trainer with the National Academy of Sports and Medicine, training college athletes for two years.
Adrian is a member at Newhope Church in Puyallup, where he served as a youth pastor intern for nine months. At the end of this internship, Adrian became a missionary for Youth With A Mission (YWAM), spreading the Word across the world for two years. His primary focus was in discipling Gen Z to know God and to make God known in America, Norway, and the UK.
In his spare time, Adrian enjoys going on runs and spending time with his family. He has a passion for seeing young people know and love Jesus. We are happy to have Adrian now serving at CCA!
Pictured above is the hat Mr. Herrera received at a recent a Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) workshop. CCA was one of 14 schools to have received no ejections from any sports activity and showed excellent sportsmanship in every game played. The hat was presented in congratulations for our school record. Well done, Hawks!
You’ve probably seen our new 6th-grade teacher on the CCA campus, but did you know that he is one of our very own alumni? Nathaniel Gray attended CCA as a middle schooler before heading to Africa with his missionary family.
Nathaniel graduated last May from Whitworth University with a Bachelor of Education Degree in History and Social Studies.
While at Whitworth, Nathaniel was involved in many campus ministries. He has a passion for studying God’s Word and helping students to develop a close relationship with Jesus. His goal is to teach students how to think biblically about their world and stand for truth as they move through their Christ-centered education.
Nathaniel has run Track and Cross Country for many years. In his free time, he enjoys running, lifting weights, and cheering on the Mariners and the Seahawks.
We are very happy to have Mr. Gray back on the CCA campus as a teacher!
