Principal's Corner

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9

Dear Families,

Did you know that Concordia has been serving families in the greater Pierce County area for more than 100 years? Our tradition of sharing the gospel in education dates back to 1899 when Zion Lutheran Church first established our school as Zion Lutheran School.

In 1939, the Concordia Lutheran School Association was formed by three churches, and Concordia Lutheran School began serving families in the Parkland area across from Pacific Lutheran University. In 1948, Concordia moved to its current campus at East 56th and B Street on our 7.5 acre site which now consists of four separate buildings.

In 2002, our partner school, Mount Rainier Lutheran High, opened its doors, thereby completing the K through 12th-grade educational experience on separate campuses. In 2017, Concordia and Mount Rainier rebranded and established a new, independent non-profit structure under the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Together, we became Concordia Christian Academy, and this year we are serving 212 students on our K-12 campus.

Concordia has grown by 54% in the last four years! Our education has always sought to include a diverse representation of students from many different backgrounds. We believe that every family who wishes to become part of our school family should be able to do so, regardless of financial circumstances. That is why we work hard to fund our endowment and financial aid sources.

On October 26, we will host our annual Vision Builders Dinner. All of the donations from this event go to financial aid, our single biggest need. Guests will hear from students and others who have a story to tell about what Concordia has meant to them during their time with us. It is a special event for a very special cause. Vision Builders are donors who commit to giving at varied levels over 5 years, but we always appreciate one-time donations as well. If you or others you know are interested in attending, please contact our Director of Advancement, Samantha Hanson.

We would love to see you there!

In Christ,

Science Club is Coming to CCA!

Has your K-5 student ever wanted to be a scientist or increase their understanding of the natural world? In Science Club, students will learn about physics and the natural world through fun and easy chemistry and physics experiments. They will learn about states of matter, the animal and plant kingdoms, and how things we interact with in our everyday lives really work. This is the perfect club if your child loves science or engineering or just wants to get a little messy after school.

Sessions begin on Thursday, October 5, and meet once a week through December 14. The cost is $160 – just $20 per session! The class is limited to 14 students on a first-come, first-served basis, so get your registration in early (checks payable to CCA).

This club is run by Vineyard App Camp. All instructors are fully vetted and background-checked. More information is found at https://www.vineyardappcamp.com/.
