Principal's Corner

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1

Dear Parents,

We are now just two weeks away from the end of our school year, and our seniors will celebrate this week ahead of their June 8th graduation.

On Tuesday, they will practice for their graduation ceremony. This is always a happy event, one that Mrs. Glasser (who coordinates all of the details) and I truly enjoy! I think this is also the moment when graduation begins to feel “real” to our students.

On Wednesday, they will host an assembly called Decision Day. This is a time for each senior to tell our middle and high school students their future plans, whether it’s college, vocational training, or heading into the work field. They will speak about the decision-making around the choice they’ve made, and share signs they’ve crafted to represent their choices.

Then they will offer “Words of Wisdom.” Since they are now leaving their initial school experiences behind, they like to share what they have learned in the process. This is also a time for our audience to ask questions of our seniors. It’s always insightful and fun!

Last, but certainly not least, our almost-grads will don their regalia to walk a pathway lined by cheering K-8 students. This is my favorite part of this day. I truly feel like a proud parent each year – happy, a bit sentimental, and so glad to be able to witness their growth into adulthood.

On Friday, our seniors will enjoy a long lunch followed by a fun afternoon of games and activities with their classmates. They have earned this time together, and we are praying for dry, warm weather as water will be involved! That evening, we will celebrate their accomplishments at our Senior Awards Night at 7 pm. in the gym.

We invite you to join us as we pray for and celebrate our seniors on Saturday, June 8, at 10 a.m. in the gym. Our graduations are always special because we begin with worship and prayer for our seniors in a baccalaureate service before proceeding into the graduation ceremony.

Enjoy these last days of school with your students, regardless of their current grade placement. It all goes by quickly!

In Christ,

Sherrie Gibelyou
