And I commend joy, for man has nothing better under the sun but to eat and drink and be joyful, for this will go with him in his toil through the days of his life that God has given him under the sun.
Ecclesiastes 8:15
Dear Parents,
Last Friday we witnessed the culmination of many Science Week projects. It was a beautiful day, and we were able to do all the fun things the classes had planned.
At 11 a.m., we saw rockets launched in the field by 4th and 5th-graders. It looked like they all went off without a hitch, and most were recovered. We thank retired teacher, board member, and rocket guru Ms. Koch for her work with our students!
Beginning at 1:30 p.m., the entire K-8 witnessed some time-tested traditions carried out by our middle school. Grade 6 tested the resilience of their popsicle stick structures by piling 5 heavy books on them, dropping a heavy object from the ground level, and standing on them. Only one survived all three challenges: a big high-five to Maia F. for designing the sturdiest structure!
Grade 7 made volcanoes designed with safe eruption ideas. Though we had a lot of creativity (and food coloring), the best eruptions came from the standard Coke-and-Mentos combination.
Grade 8 showed engineering and critical thinking in designing the best way to keep a raw egg from breaking when tossed off our gym roof. Pictured below are the eggs that survived the perilous toss.
While Science Week events were taking place, our high school had some fun of its own with an assembly highlighting our track team and engaging in Spirit Week shenanigans before last night’s Prom. Games included teams thawing a frozen t-shirt enough to wear, receiving whipped cream pies in the face, and moving cotton balls from one bowl to another while blindfolded!
We are so thankful for the good weather, and we loved seeing parents cheering on their students. What a great day!
In Christ,
