Principal's Corner

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! 1 Chronicles 16:34

Dear Families,

Our school year is almost over; the last day is Thursday, June 8. As of today, we have only 12 days left, so I would like to bring two special occasions to your attention.

On Saturday, June 3, at 10 a.m., our Seniors will graduate in the CCA gym. We will begin with a baccalaureate presided over by Pastor (and CCA board member) Sam Schuldheisz, followed by the traditional graduation ceremony.

On June 8, we will begin our last day of school with worship at Good Shepherd Lutheran followed by time in classrooms and then a final assembly at 11 a.m. in our gymnasium. That evening, we will honor our 8th graders who are moving up to high school in a worship service at Good Shepherd beginning at 7 p.m.

Parents and extended family members are invited to attend these special celebrations. We love having family on hand to help us celebrate such momentous occasions!

I also want to mention that we have several churches who partner with and help support CCA and our families throughout the year. We love the relationship we have with these churches, and I encourage you to check them out if you are looking for a church home. They are:

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church

Our Savior Lutheran Church

Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church

Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church

Immanuel Lutheran Church

In Christ,

Principal for the Day

Our third Principal for the Day had a great time last Thursday creating special events for the K-8, especially the middle school! Sixth grader Ella C. and her classmates enjoyed extended reading time (instead of math) and a pizza lunch. She treated the whole middle school to popcorn made with her very own old-fashioned popcorn cart, then scheduled an extended afternoon recess in the “Pirate Park” on the other side of our fenced field.

At her dance party, the entire K-8 had a wonderful time dancing with Mr. Boyt and Howie the Hawk, who showed off his dance moves!

CCA Classics Day

The first-ever CCA Classics Day was held on Friday afternoon for Grades 6-12. The Seniors planned and ran the events, which included something for everyone. Awards were handed out at the end of the day for the running activities, the art competition, and the best togas.

Chase G. served as Master of Ceremonies and Stephen W. was voted Best Toga (see below).

Colton F. presided as banner mascot and challenged Mrs. Shannon to a Roman Wrestling match. She won!

Golf Tournament

We would like to thank Bart Anderson from Good Shepherd and our own Samantha Hanson for putting together a fabulous golf tournament on Saturday. The weather was beautiful and 40 golfers enjoyed time at Meadow Park Golf Course. The tournament was a fundraiser for the educational financial aid funds at Good Shepherd and CCA. While it’s too early to know the exact total, we know it was a good outcome, thanks to the sponsorship of many different businesses in our community (see below)!

We’d also like to thank Mr. Boyt for filming the golfers, and CCA Ambassadors Chase G., Stephen W., and Jason T. for assisting Ms. Hanson during tournament.

Bake Sale This Week

Yum!

The K-8 Student Council has been busy raising funds to replace all of the outdoor basketball nets and three of the backboards. Last week they raised $260 of their $400 goal! Look for more sweet treats tomorrow and Wednesday this week during lunch in the 300 Building and outside after school.

We would love to have donations of baked goods, either store bought or homemade. They can be dropped off at the K-8 office. Thanks for your support!

Seniors Headed to State Track Meet

Two of our Seniors have qualified for the state track tournament to be held in Yakima on May 26 and 27.

Cooper S. and Caydon D. will compete in the high jump at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 27. Caydon D. will compete in the long jump at 3 pm. that same day. Good luck to these terrific athletes!
