Principal's Corner

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: Ecclesiastes 3:1

Dear Families,

As the current school year races to a close, we are busy planning for the new one! We have a change coming to one of our current staff positions that I am excited to share with you.

Curtis Christianson has served this year as our Athletic Director for both the middle school and high school. He has done a great job of managing two very different schedules and being present for home games, all while attending and graduating from Pierce College.

Next year, Curtis will transition to UW-Tacoma where he plans to major in business and pursue a career in Sports Management. After prayerful consideration, he has decided to step out of the high school schedule to allow more time for college studies. He will continue to serve as the AD for the middle school. I am so thankful to Curtis for being willing to step into the AD position for both school levels this year. It was no easy feat! I am thankful that he remains with us and look forward to all of the ways he will strengthen our middle school sports program.

As I considered an appropriate and capable replacement for Curtis, one man came to mind, and he has accepted the high school AD position for next year.

Rob Sullivan coached both high school soccer and baseball for CCA this year. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Services with an emphasis in nonprofit management from Western Washington University and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Western Governor’s University. Rob has coached 11 total seasons in the SeaTac league in both baseball and soccer. He believes all students can find success and fulfillment as student athletes. Rob and his wife Lea live in Tacoma with their sons Liam (19) and Tekeste, a freshman at CCA. They attend St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Tacoma.

I am excited to welcome Rob into this leadership role. He has some great ideas for growing our sports program, and I know from watching him in his coaching positions that he will bring 100% effort to the high school and our students.

In Christ,

Sherrie Gibelyou

Principal for the Day

Our second Principal for the Day took the reins of the K-8 last Thursday. Seventh grader Sylence W. declared a robotics learning period and Color the Answers math for her class. They enjoyed pizza for lunch while they watched Ice Age and had yummy snacks. She followed all of that up with an extra long afternoon recess for the entire K-8 along with Otter Pops for everyone!

Principal for the Day is an item offered at our auction each year. Next week, our last auction winner will enjoy their day on Thursday. Stay tuned!

The weather was spectacular for our Jog-A-Thon on Friday. Thank you to everyone who came out to cheer on our CCA students!

The donation page is open and will remain active through Wednesday, May 17. If you would like to support CCA Fine Arts and the Jog-A-Thon, please visit our donation page here:

We will share the results next week! Thanks to Payton B. for taking the great photos!

Library News

The last day for library checkout is May 18 and the last day for A/R tests is June 2.

We would like ALL books returned during your child’s library time May 23-25.  If the book is lost, please contact the library for the replacement cost.
We will be handing out a summer reading list to the younger grades near the end of the school year. The summer reading list will also be available on the CCA website to encourage reading over the summer break.
Happy reading!
