CCA Bulletin 3.9.25

Principal's Corner

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

Dear Families,

Developing the best strategies for learning and safety is CCA’s top priority. Friday, March 21, is a day off for students, but our teachers will be working together to review our safety protocols.

This year, we are bringing in a safety specialist from Gig Harbor Self Defense. This organization trains schools, students, and adults to respond to safety threats in practical, empowering ways that are not fear-based. After our initial review and practice of current procedures, we will update anything that needs to be addressed and communicate the changes to you. Additionally, we will be offering self-defense classes to our middle school and high school students as part of our physical education curriculum this spring. Stay tuned for more info!

CCA maintains a Crisis Management Plan with procedures to protect our students, faculty, and staff, and assure families that everything possible is done to ensure the safety of our students.

All school doors are locked; access is granted through a school code, which is active only during hours of operation. Anyone other than students wishing to enter the school must use one of the two front school entrances. All parents, guardians, and visitors are required to check in at the K-8 or high school office. Unidentifiable visitors are not granted entrance to our buildings until we have confirmed the nature of their request.

Should an intruder enter one of our buildings by force, we are equipped with a panic button in each school office. Once activated, lights flash in each hallway, a loud siren sounds, and the police are immediately dispatched as part of a high-priority emergency response.

The campus has a customized emergency response plan designed to protect students and staff during emergency situations. Safety and fire drills are held at regular intervals as an important safety precaution. Teachers and staff instruct students on CCA safety procedures, and all students follow the system of drills and safety procedures in the Crisis Management Plan.

To ensure the safety of every student, CCA safety and security practices are rooted in the four phases of emergency management: 1) Mitigation, 2) Preparedness, 3) Response, and 4) Recovery. In the event of a school-wide emergency, school officials will communicate with parents in every form possible. In the event of an off-campus evacuation, we have established designated assembly sites, the location of which will be communicated to parents as part of the recovery plan.

We pray that we will never experience any emergency situation beyond our drills, but we are thankful we have these protocols in place. Should you have any questions regarding our plans, please contact me directly at the number below.

Meal Train for the Glodowski Family

The Glodowskis are cherished members of our Concordia family. Karena has been ill and unable to work, and she recently lost her mom. We can help them in this time of need by supplying gift cards to local restaurants so they don’t have to think about meals for a while. You can bring gift cards to school during our school hours or donate online. Thank you for helping this great family!
