Principal's Corner

For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12

Dear Families,

Our Annual Hawk-tion was last Saturday night, March 18. For the first time since the fall of 2019, we were back at LeMay Collections at Marymount in Spanaway. We had an awesome turnout of 240 guests, all coming together to support Concordia Christian Academy.

Our theme this year was Rock-the-Night, and that is exactly what everyone did! From festive, decorated tables to beautiful, delicious desserts, our auction had it all. With 21 live auction items and dozens of silent auction items to choose from, there was something for everyone. You will see from the pictures below that it was a sight to behold, and our guests had a great time!

Here are the jaw-dropping results:

Our 2023 Hawk-tion grossed $144,658! This is an all-time high for any auction held in years past, but here is the really special part of this total. Our Make a Difference, Raise the Paddle bids not only completely funded our new covered play area, but 55% of our net income consisted of just these bids! That means that although there were fabulous items to bid on, most of our guests supported our school above all else that evening. In fact, we have about $13,000 over our $50,000 estimate that will allow us to look into making the space even better. Praise God!

I tell people all the time what a special place Concordia is, and it’s our Community of Christ that makes this so. From the bottom of my heart, and from all of us at CCA, we would like to say, “THANK YOU!” We appreciate your support so very much, and we thank God for all of you.

Additionally, I would like to thank our truly amazing auction committee:

Cindy Bowers, Samantha Hanson, Anna Faker, Derek Chiasson, Heidi Nordling, Terri Montgomery, Kari Christianson, Kathy Turner, Kendra Breyer, Rachel Morton, Ronna Crandall, Manoah Butterfield, and Sandi Duncan

These generous sponsors offset our auction costs:

Caycare, Sumner Carpet One, Coldwell Banker Commercial Danforth Property Management, Douglas J. Knight, DDS, King’s Manor, Our Savior Lutheran Church,  Pioneer Place Memory Care Community, and Ponders Loans Pawnbrokers

As I always say, “This is your place!” And it truly is.

In Christ,

Sherrie Gibelyou

High School Jazz Band Takes Home 2nd Place!

On Saturday, March 25, our CCA Jazz Band competed in the Commencement Bay Jazz Festival held at Fife High School. Our talented students came in 2nd out of six schools competing in their division. Seniors Ben Still and Jason Nguyen took home Outstanding Musician awards as well. Well done, Hawks! We are proud of you.
