CCA Bulletin 3.1.26

Dear Parents,

Did you know that Concordia is 127 years old?

The school traces its roots to 1899 where it began as Zion Lutheran School in North Tacoma and was operated by that congregation for 40 years.

In 1939, the Concordia Lutheran School Association was formed by three churches, and Concordia Lutheran School began serving families in the Parkland area across from Pacific Lutheran University.

In 1948, Concordia moved to its current campus at East 56th and B Street on a 7.5 acre site which now consists of four separate buildings.

In 2002, our partner school, Mount Rainier Lutheran High, opened its doors, thereby completing the K through 12th-grade educational experience on separate campuses.

In 2017, Concordia and Mount Rainier rebranded and established a new, independent non-profit structure under the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Our 7.5 acre property was remodeled to accommodate high school, along with our K-8 population.

This year, we are serving 243 students on our combined K-12 campus.

Our tradition of Lutheran education has remained consistent with our mission to provide a Christ-centered, high-quality education in a student-focused environment, preparing young people to actively serve in the world with their unique talents and gifts.

I brought my children to Concordia 34 years ago and have experienced our school as a parent, as a teacher, and as an administrator. I personally love the foundation we have in Christ, because it is steeped in God’s truth. In a society that is constantly changing and often turbulent, we stand on values and principles that remain constant.

There is tremendous value in that. Thank you for entrusting your children to us. We love them and you!
