CCA Bulletin 2.26.23

Principal's Corner

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Psalm 32:8

Dear Families,

I am happy to announce that we have a new 5th grade teacher coming to CCA this fall. Her name is Gracie Holdbrook, and she is excited to become part of the Concordia family. In a way, she already is, because she is married to Nathan Holdbrook, who went all the way through Concordia and graduated from our high school when it was still called Mount Rainier Lutheran High!

Gracie is currently teaching 4th grade at Nelson Elementary School in the Bethel School District. She comes to us with experience in grades 3-8 and an endorsement as an elementary mathematics specialist.

I am impressed with Gracie’s commitment to students and her passion for teaching. She is hoping to visit CCA and see our classrooms in action before the school year is over, so our students may have the opportunity to meet her before the new school year begins. I know they will enjoy getting to know her as I have.

I am still working to fill our 8th grade position and will be sure to update you when I have that spot filled.

In Christ,

Sherrie Gibelyou

Concordia University Chicago’s premier choral ensemble, The Kapelle, will present their West Coast Spring Tour concert entitled “In Mercy, Lord” at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 4519 112th St E. in Tacoma, on Friday, March 3, at 7 pm.

The CCA High School Vocal Ensemble will join them for one of their pieces. The concert is open to the public, and admission is free. There is an opportunity to be a host family for members of the Concordia choir during their visit.

Please contact Nate Boyt (nate.boyt@ccatacoma.org) for more information.

International Students Are In Need of Host Families

What an opportunity to enjoy an immersive cultural experience!

Aspen Perkins, Regional Manager, with ABC Education Group will share information on what it means to open your home to international high school students. You do not need to have a high school student to be a host family.

Mark your calendars for March 2 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. The evening is hosted at Concordia in the Hawks Nest.
