Principal's Corner

Discretion will watch over you; understanding will guard you.

Proverbs 2:11

Dear Parents,

At Concordia, we strive to balance online activity and hands-on learning. Online resources are certainly time-relevant and convenient, but when students are online, they may be tempted to detour into other content.

Consequently, we have a strong web monitoring system called GoGuardian, which blocks access to many sites and also provides comprehensive reports about online activity. Teachers are in control when students are online, able to remotely block computer use when students stray.

I strongly caution you to be mindful of online activity in your house. When computers are checked out, they do not have the same safeguards off campus. Though we can view a report when the computer is returned, our active monitoring does not follow your students home. Students are assigned school email addresses for use during school hours, but they can also be used for potentially unsafe activities if your internet connection does not filter inappropriate sites.

I strongly recommend all computer and gaming activities be located in a room with family and adults present. Please discuss your students’ online activities frequently so you know what they access at home.

Card games like Uno and board games like Monopoly, Risk, and Guess Who? are still great options for the whole family. They build connections and conversation while having fun!

In Christ,

Sherrie Gibelyou

Angel Christmas Tree

Concordia Christian Academy received a grant from the Puyallup Tribe designated for a community event, so we will work with Good Shepherd Lutheran Church to families from Fawcett Elementary for Christmas.

On Monday, November 24, an “Angel Christmas Tree” will be in the entryway of the 100 and 300 buildings. You can select a gift tag to purchase a gift for a student at Fawcett Elementary. Along with physical gifts for students, each family will receive a food basket. We welcome donations to this as well.

Please drop off all items, including monetary donations, in the high school or elementary school offices by Wednesday, December 10.
