Principal's Corner

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises! Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody! With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord!

Psalm 98: 4-6

Dear Parents,

In the last few months several news sources, including the Seattle Times and the Tacoma News Tribune, have published articles about public school Fine Arts programs facing cuts as administrators struggle to balance budgets that are short by millions of dollars. In every case, the talk of such cuts receives tremendous backlash from parents. Why? Because all recognize the benefits of music and performance in our lives.

At Concordia, you will never have to worry about such a decision, because our school has long been committed to developing the “whole child.” We know that the fine arts develop people in ways that no other type of activity can accomplish.

Last Thursday, Grades 4-8 students performed in Band, Choir, and Marimbas. I am always amazed at how far our 4th and 5th graders come in a short time, and how by the time they reach middle school, they are tackling more challenging music with impressive mastery. We are proud of our students for the time they put into practicing and the effort they give.’

We have talented, dedicated instructors in Mr. Boyt and Mrs. Hagen, and the time devoted to our students shows in each performance. If you happen to see them, thank them. They don’t do it for the thanks, but they always appreciate hearing it!

In the meantime, we will keep offering the Fine Arts, because we value the positive effect they have on our students. Thanks for supporting our programs!

Help Needed for L.E.S.T.

We can still use some adult supervision on the CCA campus. If you know you will be available, even for short periods of time, please contact Sherrie Gibelyou.

Re-enrollment is HERE!

Links were sent to all families eligible for re-enrollment. Your link should be used this month to apply for re-enrollment and receive a $100 credit toward re-enrollment fees.

Don’t delay. The credit only extends through the end of January. After that, enrollment opens up to new families, and space is limited!
